Questions about Local Booster

Straight answers on what we do, what we don't, how long it takes and how billing works. Pick a topic, or scroll through. If you want the detail behind an answer, our guides go deeper.

The basics

What is Local Booster?

Local Booster is a done-for-you monthly service from Just Web Agency™. It helps one physical location rank higher on Google Maps, Apple Maps and Bing Maps, and show up more often when people ask ChatGPT or Gemini for a recommendation. The goal is simple: more people walking through your door. We do the work. You approve a few things and read a short report each month.

Who is it for?

Businesses with a storefront that customers visit in person: dentists, clinics, restaurants, cafes, salons, gyms, auto shops, retail stores and similar. If most new customers find you on their phone and then come in, Local Booster fits.

Who is it not a good fit for?

Online-only businesses and businesses with no public address. Service-area businesses that travel to customers without a storefront need a call with us first, because the work is different. It's also not the right choice if you need results within days, want a guaranteed first place, or are mainly looking for ads or social media.

Which platforms do you work on?

Five: Google Maps (through your Google Business Profile), Apple Maps (through Apple Business Connect), Bing Maps (through Bing Places), ChatGPT and Gemini. We also clean up your top 15 directory listings and submit your details to data aggregators, the companies that pass business information on to apps, maps and navigation systems.

How is this different from local SEO software?

Software gives you dashboards and a to-do list, and you still do the work. Local Booster is people doing the work for you: fixing profiles, building brand mentions, writing posts, replying to reviews and tracking results. We use tracking tools ourselves and send you a plain-language report, so there's no software to learn.

How is it different from a Google-only service?

Google is the biggest, but it isn't the only place people look. Apple Maps is the default map on iPhones, Bing feeds parts of Microsoft's Copilot, and ChatGPT and Gemini pull from listings, reviews and websites across the web. We cover all five so the same accurate details show up wherever customers search. See Apple Maps and Bing Places.

How is it different from hiring a marketing agency?

Local Booster is a fixed, published package. You know the price, the deliverables and the monthly counts before you start. There's no setup fee and no contract, and the work stays focused on one thing: getting your location found on maps and in AI answers, not your whole marketing mix.

What's included

What do I get on every plan?

Every plan includes Google Business Profile optimization, Apple Business Connect and Bing Places setup and upkeep, a cleanup of your top 15 listings plus data aggregator submissions (Data Axle, Localeze/Neustar, Foursquare and similar), a profile watch for unwanted edits and spam, replies to every new review, and a monthly plain-language report. Pro and Extended add competitor tracking (3 and 5 competitors), stronger review tools and website work. The full breakdown is on What's included and Plans.

What are brand mentions?

A brand mention is any page on another website that names your business, usually with your address and phone number, such as a directory, an industry site or a local news story. Search engines and AI tools read consistent mentions as proof that you're real and well known. We add 20 new mentions a month on Base (directories and local listings), 40 on Pro (adding niche and industry sites that AI tools cite) and 80 on Extended (adding local news, blogs and community sites). Read more in Brand mentions and citations.

What keywords do you work on?

Keywords are the searches you want to show up for, such as "emergency dentist" or "pizza near me". We agree the list with you in week 1, then track and optimize 10 keywords on Base, 25 on Pro and 50 on Extended. You can add 10 more for $49 a month per pack. See Choosing local keywords.

What are Google posts?

Short updates that appear on your Google Business Profile: offers, events, news and seasonal services. They show Google and customers that your business is active. We write and publish 4 a month on Base, 8 a month with new photos on Pro, and 12 a month on Extended.

What is the map grid?

Your ranking changes depending on where the searcher is standing. A map grid checks your position from many points around your location, so you can see where you show up and where you don't. Base runs a 7×7 grid (49 points) for 3 keywords monthly. Pro runs a 9×9 grid (81 points) for 10 keywords weekly. Extended runs a 13×13 grid (169 points) for 20 keywords weekly. See How we measure: the map grid.

What are the ChatGPT and Gemini checks?

Each month we ask ChatGPT and Gemini the kinds of questions your customers ask, such as "best family dentist near [your area]", and record whether you are mentioned and which competitors are. We check 10 questions on Base, 25 on Pro and 50 on Extended, and agree the list with you based on your keywords.

What is the review generator?

A way to ask more customers for a review without extra effort from your team. On Base you get a review link and QR code, and we reply to every review. Pro adds automatic review requests by text and email. Extended adds in-store QR cards and follow-up reminders. See Reviews and the review generator.

Do you work on my website?

On Pro and Extended, yes. Pro includes FAQ and schema updates on your website. Schema is behind-the-scenes code that tells search engines and AI tools plain facts like your hours, address and services. Extended also writes one local service page a month. Base doesn't include website work. For either plan we need website access, or a contact for your web person.

What's not included

What isn't included in any plan?

Website design or rebuilds, hosting, paid ads, social media management, fake, paid or incentivized reviews, removing legitimate negative reviews, guaranteed first-place rankings, changing your physical distance from searchers, more than one location on a plan, photography shoots, call tracking setup beyond what's in the report, and reputation crisis or legal work. The full list with reasons is on What's included.

Will you redesign or host my website?

Not as part of Local Booster. Website design and rebuilds are a separate Just Web Agency™ service, and hosting is a separate Just Web Agency™ plan. On Pro and Extended we add content to the website you already have.

Do you run ads or manage social media?

No. We don't run Google Ads, Local Services Ads or Meta ads, and we don't manage your social media accounts. Local Booster works on organic visibility: the map and AI results you don't pay for per click.

Do you work with service-area businesses?

If you travel to customers and don't have a storefront they can visit, talk to us before choosing a plan. Local Booster is built around one physical location, and service-area businesses are ranked differently, so we want to check it's a good fit first.

Results and timing

How soon will I see results?

Profile fixes can show within weeks. The clearest movement on the map grid usually comes in months 2 to 4. Some listings take weeks or months to go live, because directories publish on their own schedule. The full timeline is on How it works.

Do you guarantee a number one ranking?

No. Google, Apple and Bing decide rankings, and nobody can honestly promise first place. Be wary of anyone who does. What we commit to is the work in your plan, done every month and shown in your report, so you can see exactly what was delivered.

Why does my ranking look different for different people?

Google ranks local results on relevance, distance and prominence, according to its own help documentation. The same search gives different results depending on where the person is standing, the exact words they use and what nearby competitors are doing. That's why we measure with a map grid rather than a single number. See How Google Maps ranking works.

Can you help if I'm far from where people search?

We can't change how far you are from a searcher. What we can improve is relevance (how well you match the search) and prominence (how well known you are online). Stronger signals there often help you show up further from your door, but distance always plays a part.

What if my ranking drops?

Rankings move from week to week, and small dips are normal. When something bigger happens, we look for the cause: a Google update, a new competitor, an unwanted edit to your profile or a change in reviews. We explain it in your report and adjust the next month's work. Our profile watch also catches unwanted edits early.

What if my Google profile gets suspended?

Suspensions do happen, sometimes after changes to a business name or address, or after a competitor reports a profile. We follow Google's guidelines so our own work doesn't put you at risk. If a suspension happens, we tell you, work out the likely cause and help you through Google's reinstatement request. Google makes the final decision.

ChatGPT and Gemini

How do ChatGPT and Gemini choose which businesses to mention?

They draw on what's written about you online. ChatGPT search uses web sources including Bing results and review and directory sites. Gemini leans on Google's own data: your Business Profile, reviews and website. So accurate listings, steady reviews, brand mentions and clear answers on your website all help. See Getting recommended by ChatGPT and Gemini.

Can you guarantee ChatGPT or Gemini will recommend me?

No. AI answers can't be controlled, only influenced, and they change with the wording of the question and over time. We improve the sources these tools rely on and check a set of questions every month, so you can see whether you're being mentioned and how that changes.

What about Copilot and other AI tools?

Bing powers parts of Microsoft's Copilot, so the work on your Bing Places listing and brand mentions supports it too. Our monthly checks and reports cover ChatGPT and Gemini only.

Reviews

How do you help me get more reviews?

By making it easy to ask every customer. Base gives you a review link and QR code. Pro sends automatic review requests by text and email. Extended adds in-store QR cards and follow-up reminders. For automatic requests we need a way to reach customers, usually customer emails or phone numbers from your point-of-sale system or CRM (customer database).

Can you buy reviews, offer rewards or only ask happy customers?

No. Google prohibits paid or incentivized reviews, and it also prohibits review gating, which means asking only the customers you expect to be happy. Breaking these rules can get reviews removed or your profile penalized. Our requests go to every customer in the same way.

Can you remove bad reviews?

We can't remove a genuine negative review, and we won't try. We reply calmly and helpfully, let you know about anything serious, and report reviews that break Google's rules (spam, fake or off-topic) through Google's own process. Google decides whether they come down.

Do you really reply to every review?

Yes, on every plan. We thank people for good reviews and respond to critical ones in a way that helps future customers see you care. If you work in healthcare, our replies never confirm that someone is a patient. Tell us your preferred tone and anything we should always check with you first.

Getting started and what we need from you

How do I get started?

Choose a plan and send us your business details. We confirm your location and keywords within one business day, then send a secure checkout link. Once you've paid, your visibility audit starts in week 1. See Plans.

What access do you need?

Manager access to your Google Business Profile (or permission to claim it), Apple Business Connect and Bing Places. In most cases you add us as a manager, so you don't need to share your password. For website work on Pro and Extended we also need website access, or a contact for your web person.

What if I don't have a Google profile or can't get into it?

With your permission, we claim or create it for you. Google sometimes asks the owner to verify the business, for example with a code or a short video, so we may need a few minutes of your time. Verification can take a while, and we keep you posted.

What information do you need from me?

Your accurate business name, address, phone number, opening hours and list of services; photos of your location, team and work; one contact person for approvals; and a way to send review requests, either customer emails and phone numbers from your system or QR cards in store.

What will I need to approve?

The keyword list in week 1, any change to your core business details, and website changes on Pro and Extended. We handle posts and review replies without waiting on you, unless you'd rather see them first. Just tell us.

How long does onboarding take?

Week 1 is the visibility audit and keyword agreement. Weeks 2 to 4 fix the foundations: completing your Google, Apple and Bing profiles, correcting wrong listings and submitting to data aggregators. Monthly work starts from month 2. Most of what we need from you happens in the first week.

Billing and cancelling

Is there a contract?

No. Local Booster is month to month. You stay because it's working, not because you're locked in.

Is there a setup fee?

No. You pay the monthly plan price and nothing else unless you choose an add-on: $359 a month for Base, $599 for Pro or $899 for Extended.

Can I upgrade or downgrade?

Yes, any month. Let us know before your next billing date and the new plan applies from that billing period.

What add-ons are available?

Two, on any plan: 10 extra keywords for $49 a month per pack, and 20 extra brand mentions for $79 a month per pack. You can add up to 5 packs of each.

I have more than one location. How does that work?

Each location needs its own plan, because each one ranks on its own. You get a discount from the second location onward. Contact us for multi-location pricing.

How do I cancel?

Tell us anytime before your next billing date. There's no cancellation fee, and you won't be charged again.

What happens to my listings if I cancel?

You keep them. You own your Google, Apple and Bing profiles and every listing the whole time. Brand mentions that are already published stay where they are. Automatic review requests stop, and you can remove our manager access whenever you like.

How do I pay?

Monthly, through the secure checkout link we send once we've confirmed your location and keywords. You're billed on the same date each month.

Reporting

What's in the monthly report?

Your map grid results, keyword positions, ChatGPT and Gemini check results, new reviews and replies, and a list of the work done that month: brand mentions built, posts published and fixes made. Pro and Extended also compare you with your tracked competitors. Every report ends with what we'll focus on next month. See What a report contains.

Will I understand it?

That's the point. Reports are written in plain language, lead with what changed and why it matters, and explain any term we have to use. If something isn't clear, reply and we'll answer within one business day.

Do I get calls with your team?

Extended includes a call with a strategist every two weeks. On Base and Pro, the monthly report is the main check-in, and you can reply with questions at any time. We answer within one business day.

Ready to get found nearby?

Pick the plan that fits your location. Month to month, no setup fee, and you keep everything we build.
