How Local Booster works

A clear sequence: we measure where you stand, fix what's broken, then build your visibility every month and show you what changed. Here is exactly what happens, when, and what we need from you.

The process

The four steps

The first month sets things up properly. From month 2 the work repeats, and each report shapes the month after it.

  1. Visibility audit

    Week 1

We record where you stand today on Google Maps, Apple Maps, Bing Maps, ChatGPT and Gemini, and agree the keywords we'll work on.

  2. Fix the foundations

    Weeks 2–4

We claim and complete your Google, Apple and Bing profiles, correct wrong listings and submit your details to data aggregators.

  3. Build every month

    Month 2 onward

New brand mentions, Google posts, review work and, on Pro and Extended, answers on your website.

  4. Report and adjust

    Every month

A plain-language report on what moved and what we did, then we adjust the next month's focus.

In short

  • Week 1 is an audit of all five platforms and an agreed keyword list.
  • Weeks 2–4 fix your profiles and listings so every platform has the same correct details.
  • From month 2 we build brand mentions, posts and reviews every month, plus website answers on Pro and Extended.
  • You get a plain-language report every month. Clearest map movement usually shows in months 2 to 4.

Week 1: the visibility audit

Before we change anything, we record a baseline: where you show up today, and what's holding you back. That baseline is what every later report is measured against, so you can see real change rather than guesses.

What we check on each platform

  • Google Maps. Whether your Google Business Profile is complete and correct: categories, hours, services, description, photos, review count and rating, how often reviews get replies, and whether posts are current. We also run your first map grid scan, which checks your ranking from many points around your location.
  • Apple Maps. Whether your location is claimed in Apple Business Connect and whether the details match. Apple also pulls in partner data, such as ratings and reviews from Yelp, so we check those sources too.
  • Bing Maps. Whether you have a Bing Places listing, whether it matches Google, and whether it can be imported from your Google profile to save time.
  • ChatGPT. We ask the questions your customers are likely to ask and record whether you're mentioned. ChatGPT search draws on web sources including Bing results and review and directory sites, so this also tells us which of those sources need work.
  • Gemini. The same set of questions. Gemini leans heavily on Google's own data, so the results here often mirror the state of your Business Profile, reviews and website.

We also check your top 15 directory listings for a matching name, address and phone number, and look at whether your website states the basics clearly.

Agreeing your keywords

Keywords are the searches you want to win, such as "dentist open Saturday" or "tire shop near me". We propose a list based on your services, how customers describe them and what nearby competitors rank for. A quick test: if Google shows a map for a search, that search is local and worth considering (a tip from Ahrefs). You approve the list before we start. Base covers 10 keywords, Pro 25 and Extended 50. More on this in Choosing local keywords.

Weeks 2–4: fixing the foundations

Most businesses have gaps they don't know about: a missing Apple listing, old hours on Bing, a directory with a previous phone number. These send mixed signals to search engines and AI tools. In weeks 2 to 4 we fix them.

  • Claim or complete your Google Business Profile: categories, services, hours, attributes, description and photos.
  • Set up or claim your Apple Business Connect listing and bring it in line with Google.
  • Set up or claim your Bing Places listing, importing from Google where that's quicker.
  • Correct wrong or duplicate entries in your top 15 directory listings.
  • Submit your details to data aggregators such as Data Axle, Localeze/Neustar and Foursquare, which pass them on to apps, maps and navigation systems.
  • Set up your review link and QR code, and on Pro and Extended, your automatic review requests.
  • Start the profile watch, which flags unwanted edits and spam on your listings.

Some listings won't be live by the end of week 4. Directories and aggregators publish on their own schedule, and some take weeks or months. We keep track and report when each one goes live.

Monthly work by plan

From month 2 the same core work repeats each month. How much depends on your plan.

Brand mention types also widen with each plan: Base focuses on directories and local listings, Pro adds niche and industry sites that AI tools cite, and Extended adds local news, blogs and community sites. Schema is behind-the-scenes code on your website that tells search engines plain facts like your hours and services. Need more? Add 10 keywords for $49 a month or 20 brand mentions for $79 a month, up to 5 packs of each. Compare everything on Plans.

What we need from you

Most of this happens in week 1. After that, your time is mostly reading the report and answering the occasional question.

  • Manager access to your Google Business Profile, or permission to claim it.
  • Access to Apple Business Connect and Bing Places, or permission to set them up.
  • Accurate business details: name, address, phone number, opening hours and services.
  • Photos of your location, team and work.
  • One contact person for approvals.
  • On Pro and Extended, website access, or an introduction to your web person.
  • A way to send review requests: customer emails or phone numbers from your point-of-sale system or CRM (customer database), or QR cards in store.

Tell us early about anything coming up, such as new hours, a holiday closure, a new service or a move. Changing details mid-month without telling us can undo work on your listings.

How we communicate

  • Monthly report. Every plan gets a plain-language report each month by email.
  • Calls. Extended includes a call with a strategist every two weeks. On Base and Pro, the report is the main check-in, and you can reply with questions anytime.
  • Approvals. We ask you to approve the keyword list, any change to your core business details, and website changes on Pro and Extended. Posts and review replies go out without waiting on you, unless you'd prefer to see them first.
  • Response times. We reply to questions within one business day. If we spot something urgent, like an unwanted edit to your profile, we tell you straight away.

What a monthly report contains

The report leads with what changed and why it matters, then shows the detail. You don't need to know any jargon to read it.

  1. Summary. The headline changes this month in a few sentences.
  2. Map grid results. Your grid for each tracked keyword compared with last month. See How we measure: the map grid.
  3. Keyword positions. Where you rank for each agreed keyword.
  4. ChatGPT and Gemini checks. Which questions mention you, and which competitors appear instead.
  5. Reviews. New reviews, your rating, and the replies we posted.
  6. Work completed. Brand mentions built, posts published, listings fixed and, on Pro and Extended, website updates.
  7. Competitors. On Pro and Extended, how you compare with your 3 or 5 tracked competitors.
  8. Next month. What we'll focus on and why.

When to expect results

Local search rewards steady work over time. Google ranks local results on relevance, distance and prominence, according to its own help documentation, and prominence in particular takes months to build. Here is an honest picture.

What we do and what you can expect in each period
PeriodWhat we're doingWhat you're likely to see
Weeks 1–4Audit, keyword agreement, profile and listing fixes, aggregator submissionsCorrect details on Google, Apple and Bing. Profile fixes can start to show within weeks. Some listings still pending.
Months 2–4Monthly brand mentions, posts, review requests and replies, website answers on Pro and ExtendedUsually the clearest movement on the map grid. More listings go live. Review count starts to build.
Months 4 and onContinued monthly work, adjusted from each reportGains tend to hold and widen across more of the grid and more keywords. AI mentions can grow as more sources cite you, though they can't be controlled.

Results vary with how competitive your area is, where you're starting from and how far you are from the people searching. We can't change your distance, and we don't promise first place. What we do promise is the work in your plan, done every month and shown in your report.

Changing or cancelling your plan

  • Upgrade or downgrade any month. Tell us before your next billing date and the new plan applies from that billing period.
  • Add-ons. Add or remove keyword and brand mention packs on any plan.
  • Cancel anytime. There's no contract and no setup fee. Cancel before your next billing date and you won't be charged again.
  • You keep everything. You own your profiles and listings the whole time. Brand mentions already published stay live.

More detail on billing is in the FAQ.
